Every morning or afternoon, we invite you to discover the city of Montevideo, capital of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and administrative headquarters of Mercosur. Founded between 1724 and 1730, it preserves much of its architectural and cultural heritage. Cradle of artists and bohemians, its streets reveal an extraordinary urban landscape of tree-lined avenues, parks, and beaches that blend into a unique city.
Itinerary
- To discover Montevideo, we begin our tour through the old town, starting at the city’s port and the Port Market (the city’s main gastronomic hub). We then visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, continue to Independence Square, and walk along 18 de Julio Avenue, the main commercial center of the city. Next, we visit the Legislative Palace, the national congress building inaugurated in 1925 by architect Cayetano Moretti, considered the third most beautiful congressional palace in the world.
- We continue our tour at the Agricultural Market, declared a National Historic Monument, where you’ll have some free time to explore.
- From there, we visit the Centenario Stadium, a monument to world football.
- Next, we stop at Batlle Park, where La Carreta (The Wagon) awaits to be photographed.
- Finally, we’ll explore the neighborhood of Carrasco, our last stop before returning to the city center along the Montevideo Rambla.
- Return to your hotels and end of our services.
